CASE STUDY

Overview

Every 3 years the Australasian Universities Languages & Literature Association (AULLA) hosts an international conference. With their 2019 conference coming up they required a redesign of their current WordPress website.

Role

I was in charge of updating the visual design, redesigning the membership sign up experience and delivering documentation on how to manage the WordPress website to the organisation's president and business manager.

DISCOVERY

Research
Workshop

The research workshop started with questions about AULLA's customer's needs, existing problems with the website and their desired solutions. We reviewed the current design and agreed the design would have to start from scratch as links were missing, the page layout had been corrupted and there wasn't an obvious call to action.

AULLA: Original Home Page

DESIGN

Sketching

Following the workshop, I created a site map for the client to review. This process confirmed all features were covered and that the client and I were aligned on the end goal.

AULLA: Sitemap

Low Fidelity
Wireframes

When the structure was complete I built low fidelity wireframes using Adobe XD and created a click-through prototype. This gave the client a better idea of what each page looked like and allowed them to review the user experience.

AULLA: Low Fidelity Screens

High Fidelity
Build

The high fidelity build was created using WordPress. This version of the site was hosted on a subdomain, where it could be safely reviewed by the clients.

Deployment

WordPress Setup

After the high fidelity build was approved I migrated the site to AULLA's existing domain.

Hand off to client

‍At the end of the project I created a 26 page document which provided details for the client to operate the backend of the website themselves.

This document detailed:

  • How to backup the wordpress website
  • How to restore a backup.
  • How to create new posts for blog content.
